It's Officially Summer!

Summer is officially here and this time around I don't have summer school and can actually enjoy it. So since moving to SC Mr. J and I have decided to be more active and also just enjoy the town we live in. Mr. J and I have begun a ritual of going on walks through downtown after dinner. Often times we just look at all the old buildings while trying to burn off all the food we just at and sometimes when Mr. J convinces me to go on a jog with him this town makes the torture a little better. Going on walks here has become on of my favorite things to do.

First Week in SC

So I officially graduated from college...
Which is kind of weird to even say or grasp my head around. Anyways after all that work I moved across the country well actually half way around the country with Mr. J to start our lives together. We are now living in South Carolina in a tiny but cozy apartment. So here is a little glimpse of the past two weeks for me. Life here has been pretty laid back filled with late night movies, farmers markets, cute restaurants, and trying to organize our new place.Which is a complete 360 from my life back in Texas even though I miss my family and Texas will always be home moving to SC has been great and the ocean views and mossy trees make the move a little easier!

DIY Bar Cart

Ikea Bar Cart (Here)

So over winter break I had some time on my hands and had come across this DIY bar cart! I was literally obssessed and knew I had to have it! So I went to ikea and picked up this utility cart and some other stuff for Mr. J and I's future home. It was super easy basically all you need is to purchase this $30 utility cart and some gold foil spray paint. Before assembleing spray paint all the parts including the screws I did two coats and waited about 30 mins in between each coat. I let it dry for about 3 hrs before I started assembling. Of course ikea does not have the best instructions but if I can put it together so can you! I love how it turned out, right now its serving as a book cart for my office but once schools over I plan to put this little gem in my dining room in my future home with a plan of stocking it up for future dinner parties. Speaking of books I recently picked up Jessica Alba's new book about living a "Honest Life", this book is great it includes some awesome healthy food options and labels to look out for in your food and products. It is about being an aware consumer and focuses on what you are putting in and on your body! Overall it's such a good read I definitely recommend it! As my New Year's resolution I am wanting to live a healthier lifestyle so this is a great read!

Will you be my bridesmaid?...

So as soon as I got engaged I knew I wanted to make these little baskets for my girls! I had seen alot of will you be my bridesmaid baskets circulating on pinterest but wanted to add my touch to them. So inside I included a planner for my bridesmaids that way they could mark important dates, mint nail polish because that is one of my colors in my wedding palette. I also added mini champagne bottles, lip balm, and their fav candy. My girls loved them and of course said yes!

Downtown Beaufort SC

Vest | Plaid shirt (similar) | Black Skinnies | Jewelry
The past nine days I have spent in South Carolina with my fiance I usually try to go visit him 2-3 times a year and it doesn't hurt how beautiful the place is. He is currently stationed in Beaufort, SC which is a tiny military town near Charleston but has a lot of character! My fav part is going downtown and visiting all the local shops so I decided to share some of my favs and their cute setups. I dragged Mr. J with me in the semi- freezing weather to venture out. He was such a trooper and went through all the stores with me and even helped take these pictures for me! Overall it was a great trip and I can not wait to call this place home in May!

Gatsby Coffee House

So after a stressful week at school I decided to take a little break and go have coffee with one of my friends Miranda who was so sweet to take these pictures for me! We went and had some Lattes at Gatsby Coffee House and I must say I was obsessed! It is a cute little coffee shop in Cactus Alley which is such a gem for Lubbock. I think I am going to make it my new study spot I love how cozy it is!! For my outfit I went for a simple look I brought out the riding boots today I am looking forward to this colder weather so I can bring out some of my fav winter wardrobe pieces. I advise every girl to invest in a good pair of boots they are so versatile, you can dress them down with leggings and a long sleeve or go for a preppy look with a puffer vest and flannel and your set! Anyways hope everyone stays warm and cozy as winter approaches!

Midterms are approaching...what?!?!

Recipe Below

Green Smoothie Recipe:
1 cup of coconut water
1 cup of baby spinach
1/2 cup frozen fruit
1/2 cup of greek yogurt (mine is yoplait berries)
top it off with some ice and blend
It's not the prettiest smoothie but it taste great!!!

So as Midterms are approaching I thought I would share some study tips and some fun study break ideas. So I am one of those weird people who can not study in complete silence so I always study while listening to music like Taylor Swifts new album or watching my fav TV show and right now I am re-watching the HBO show called Girls, which is an awesome show for college girls on adulthood and expectations that we have post graduation. So invest in some good noise cancelling headphones if your studying in groups like I always do! Studying in a group helps you understand things you may not get a full grasp on and keep you entertained, making studying a little fun. I am in nursing school so for me every week is finals week pretty much. We cover vasts amounts of information in a little amount of time so the only time I have to hangout with friends is when we study together. Another tip I have is to make healthy snack like a green smoothie or have trail mix because eating chips at 2 am will eventually catch up to you. Believe me I know, I still hate looking at those pictures from sophomore year when I gained about 10 lbs which my loving brother insisted he had to point out every time I went home for winter break. So after I lost the weight I made a vow to not have junk food as a study snack and avoid whataburger after going out! Little changes like that and working out definitely helped! Anyways whether you are a freshman or a senior getting a study routine down helps to get in the zone; so everyone good luck with you midterms and may the curve be ever in your favor!
